Recording Decrease of Input Tax (Tamil Nadu)

CST payable can be adjusted against the available input tax credit. You can record a journal voucher with the required nature of adjustment to make this adjustment in the books of accounts.

To adjust CST payable against available input credit

1.     Go to Gateway of Tally > Accounting Vouchers > F7: Journal.

2.     Click J: Stat Adjustment to enable required options in the Stat Adjustment Details screen.

o      Select Type of duty/tax as VAT.

o      Select Decrease of Input Tax as Nature of adjustment, as shown in the image above. The option Against CST is selected by default.

3.     Debit the CST ledger created under the group Duties & Taxes.

o      Enter the Rate and Assessable Value in the VAT Details screen.

o      Press Enter to return to voucher screen.

4.     Enter the amount in Debit column.

5.     Credit the VAT ledger created under the group Duties & Taxes.

o      Enter the Rate and Assessable Value in the VAT Details screen.

o      Press Enter to return to voucher screen.

6.     Enter Narration, if any.

7.     Press Enter to save.
