Sales to Diplomatic Mission

Categories which fall under Zero Rated Supplies Part C - Eight schedule (Persons with diplomatic privileges) are:

SECTION C  

  • Goods for the official use of the United Nations or its specialized agencies or any Commonwealth high commission or of any foreign embassy, consulate or diplomatic mission.

  •  Goods for the use of a high official of the United Nations or its specialized agencies or a member of the diplomatic staff of any Commonwealth or foreign country, where specific provision for such zero-rated status is made by the Minister responsible for foreign affairs.

  • On first arrival in Kenya or within ninety days of the date of arrival, the household and personal effects, including one motor vehicle, imported or purchased by an employee of the United Nations or of its specialized agencies, a Commonwealth high commission, or a foreign embassy, consulate or diplomatic mission where the employee -

  • is not engaged in any other business or profession in Kenya; and

  • has not been granted a zero-rated status under item 5(1) and (2) under this Part, or item 4(3) of Part B, of this Schedule.

 

To create a voucher for Zero Rated Sales to Diplomatic Privileges,

Go to Gateway of Tally > Accounting Vouchers > F8: Sales

  1. In Change Voucher Type screen select Not Applicable in Class field.

  2. Enter the Reference in the Ref field if required.

  3. Select the Party’s A/c Name from the List of Ledgers.

  4. Select the Sales Ledger with the VAT/Tax class - Sales - Zero Rated  (Diplomatic Privileges).

  5. Select the VAT/Tax Class as Sales to Diplomatic Missions & U.N. Etc. from the List of VAT/Tax Class, if it was not specified while creating ledger.

  6. Select the required stock item from the List of Items. Enter the Quantity and Rate. The amount is automatically displayed in the Amount field.

  7. Select the Type of Device, the Device number will be captured automatically. Maximum of 20 characters is allowed for Device No. field.

  8. In Brief Desc for VAT field, enter the brief description of the goods being sold.

  9. Enter the Exemption Certificate No.

  1. Press Y or Enter to accept and save.

Note: The assessable value of sales made using taxable VAT/Tax classification Sales to Diplomatic Missions & U.N. Etc. is captured in box 3 - ZERO RATED Sales (in Value EXCL. VAT) of Form VAT 3.
