Installing Tally.ERP 9 – Multi User (Server)

You can install Tally.ERP 9 using one of the following methods.

Method 1:

  • Double click install.exe icon on the CD.

Method 2:

  • Click Start from Windows.

  • Select Run.

  • TYPE <CD drive>:\INSTALL.

  • Press Enter .

Follow the instructions displayed on your screen to proceed with the installation of Tally.ERP 9.

  1. The Tally.ERP 9 Installation Wizard screen is displayed as shown.

 

  1. Click Next to continue.

  2. The Tally.ERP 9 Setup screen appears.

  3. In the Edition section

  4. Select Multi User

  • Select Server Machine

Note:To install License Server only, uncheck the option Tally.ERP 9.

  1. Click Next

  2. In the Tally License Server Configuration section, accept the default License Server Directory,  Port number and License Directory or specify the License Server Directory,  Port and License Directory of your choice.

Note: In the Server system, if Tally License Server is currently running, installer will detect and display the title as Upgradation (instead of New Installation) in the Tally License Server Configuration section.

 

If Installer detects more than one License Server then, it will display the default License Directory.

  1. To install the License Server 7.8 for more than one Tally product,  click Advanced button to enable the option Use common License Server for more than One Tally Products.  

  1. Click Next

  2. If the Port specified for License Server is already in use, then a message directing to choose a different port appears. Change the Port number to continue.

  1. Also, if an older version of License Server is already installed, then the message - Multiple License Servers are installed. Do you want to overwrite with newer version of License Server appears.

  1. Click Yes

  2. The Tally.ERP 9 Setup screen is displayed as shown

11.1 In the Tally.ERP 9 Configuration section, accept the default directories as shown or click on the buttons provided next to the respective text boxes to change the path of Application Directory, Data Directory, Configuration Directory, Language Directory and License Directory.

11.1.1  Application Directory - The program files reside in this directory.

11.1.2 Data Directory – by default Tally.ERP 9 data is stored in C:\Tally.ERP 9\Data or C:\Users\Public\Tally.ERP9\Data. During the installation process, the wizard detects and retains the data path of previously installed version of Tally.ERP 9.

11.1.3 Configuration Directory – by default the configuration files reside in the application directory.

11.1.4 Language Directory – by default the Language files with the extension .dct are stored in the application directory.

Note:In this process of Installation, Tally.ERP 9 will display a Note on the left, indicating that the respective Installer used will install a 32-bit application.

  1. Click Next

  2. In the Country/Language Selection screen, check Install Operating System Language Support to install Tally.ERP 9 with multi-lingual support.

Note: To use Tally.ERP 9 in English only, un-check Install Operating Systems Language Support

  1. By default, India/SAARC appears in the Country Selection. Select Others if you are not residing in India or any of the SAARC countries.

Note: To use Tally.ERP 9 in English only, uncheck Install Operating Systems Language Support.

  1. Click Install

Note: When language support files are not available, installer prompts for language support files in the Files Needed screen. Insert operating systems CD in the drive or click Browse and select the i386 folder where the required language support files reside on your computer.

Click OK to install Language Support.

Click Cancel when do not have the operating system CD.

  1. Click Yes to allow the Tally License Server accept connections from its clients

  1. The Setup Status is displayed as shown.

 

  1. Once the installation process is completed, the messages 'Tally License Server 7.8 Installed Successfully' and 'Tally.ERP 9 Installed Successfully' will be displayed. Also, the message 'Installer has installed 32 bit application' appears.

 

  1. Click Finish to complete the installation process.
