Form ER 8

Form ER-8 is a Quarterly Return to be filed by the manufactures who are neither availing input credit nor clearing the goods which are charged of excise over 1%.

In Tally.ERP 9 From ER -8 is provided (in Release 3.2 with Stat 149 onwards) as per statutory requirements.

Go to Gateway of Tally > Display > Statutory Reports > Excise Reports > Manufacturer > Form ER 8

In Excise ER 8 Print Configuration screen

  1. Excise Unit: In this field select the appropriate Excise Unit for which you want to generate form ER 8

  2. From and To: In this field specify the relevant period for which the form to be generated.

  3. Specify Place, Date and Assessee Name

Field Description of Form ER 8

  1. Return of excisable goods cleared @ 1% duty for the Quarter From and To: Displays the Period of the return.

  2. Registration No: Indicate the 15-digit PAN based registration number. Displays the Excise Registration number of the Company.

  3. Name of the Assessee:Indicate the name as appearing in the Registration Certificate. This field displays the Company Name as specified in Unit Mailing Name field in Excise Registration Details sub-form.

  4. Details of the Manufacture, Clearance and duty payable: Details of goods manufactured, cleared, closing balance, Tariff Classification Name, Code along with details of duty payable.

  5. CETSH: Displays the 8 digit CETSH Number (Tariff Code) of the goods manufactured/cleared.

  6. Description of Goods: Displays the Tariff Classification Name.

  7. Unit of Quantity: Indicate the relevant abbreviations of Unit of Quantity. This field displays the Reporting UOM defined in the excisable goods Manufactured /cleared.

  8. Sr. No in Notification no: 1/2011CE: This column displays the serial number in the notification. This will be captured form excise Sales invoice if the serial number is mentioned in Sl. No in Notification field.

  9. Opening Balance: This column displays the Quantity of Opening Balance of Excise Stock.

  10. Quantity Manufactured: This column displays the Quantity of goods manufactured during the Quarter.

  11. Quantity Cleared: This column displays the details of Quantity cleared during the Quarter

  12. Closing Balance: This column displays the Closing Balance Quantity of the Excisable Goods

  13. Assessable Value: This column displays the assessable value on which the excise duty is calculated.

  14. Excise Duty payable @ 1%: Displays the Excise Duty payable on the goods removed during the Quarter.

  15. Education Cess and Secondary Education Cess (2% +1%): This column displays the education cess and secondary education cess amount payable on the goods removed during the Quarter.

  16. Total Duty Payable: This column displays the total duty payable during the Quarter.

  1. Details of Duty paid on excisable goods: under this serial number, details of duty paid on the excisable goods will be captured.

  2. Duty Code: This column displays the Type of Duty paid on excisable goods  during the Quarter.

  3. Amount: Displays the amount of duty paid during the Quarter.

  4. Challan No.: Displays the Challan Number of the duty payments made during the Quarter. If duty is paid more than once during the Quarter, the first 3 payments challan Number will be captured in Challan number column.

  5. Date: Displays the data of payment of duty to government entered in Challan.

  6. Bank Code: Displays the BSR Code of the Bank through which the excise duty is paid to the Government.

  1. Details of other payments made: Under this serial number, details of other payments like penalty, interest etc. paid during the Quarter will be captured.

  2. Payment: This column displays the other payments type.

  3. Amount: capture the amount of other payment made during the Quarter

  4. Challan no.: The Challan number through which the other payments are made Government will be captured in this column.

  5. Date: Displays the data of payment of other payments to government entered in Challan.

  6. Bank Code: Displays the BSR Code of the Bank through which the other payments are made to the Government.

  7. Remarks: Captures the details of remarks, if any.

  1. Self-assessment Memorandum: Under this section details of self assessment of the assessee along with the total amount of duty paid during the Quarter and the invoice number under which the excisable goods are cleared will be captured.

  2. Date: This field displays the date on which Form ER- 8 is generated. In this field, date mentioned in Date field of Excise ER8 Print Configuration screen will be captured.

  3. Place: This field displays the place of generating Form ER- 8. In this field, place mentioned in Place field of Excise ER8 Print Configuration screen will be captured.

  4. Name & Signature of Assessee or Authorised Signatory: Displays the name of Authorised Signatory mentioned in Assessee Name field of Excise ER8 Print Configuration screen.
