Tally.ERP 9 provides two distinct license editions for the users:
Tally.ERP 9 Silver Edition: Silver edition is a single user license. A single user can access the license at a time in a LAN environment. For another user to access the same license, all instances of Tally.ERP 9 currently using the license must be closed.
Tally.ERP 9 Gold Edition: Gold edition is a multi user license. Multiple users connected in a LAN environment can access the license simultaneously.
To manage licenses, Tally.ERP 9, has the concept of site licensing.
A Site refers to a single license of Tally.ERP 9, Tally.Developer 9, or Tally.Server 9 installed, and activated.
The site licensing is classified into two categories:
Single Site: A single Tally.ERP 9, Tally.Developer 9, or Tally.Server 9 license, activated is called a single site. The licensing operations at the individual site is managed by the administrator.
Multi Site: Multi site is more than one Tally.ERP 9, Tally.Developer 9, or Tally.Server 9 activated on different machines or locations, associated to a primary account. Each site is given a unique identification by the user, which is termed as Site ID. The multi site account is identified using a unique Account ID.
For example, consider XYZ company, with branch offices in multiple locations, where single and multi user licenses are activated. To manage all the individual licenses of multiple locations, XYZ company can create a multi site account, and manage all the branch office licenses centrally.
Note: It is mandatory to have internet connectivity in the system to perform any licensing operation.
