Data in Tally.Server 9 can be accessed from a silver client. For this, you will need to add the Tally.ERP 9 Gold License Server information in the 'ini' file in your Tally.ERP 9 folder. This will help your Tally.ERP 9, with the silver license, access data from Tally.Server 9.
To do this
1. Connect the laptop to the same network in which Tally.ERP 9 Gold is located.
2. Navigate to the folder where Tally.ERP 9 has been installed, usually, C:Program FilesTally.ERP9.
3. Locate the file - Tally.ini. Right-click, select Edit.
4. In the Tally.ini file, locate the heading 'Specify the list of gold license servers to subscribe'. Under this, add the Tally.ERP 9 Gold License server information - Server name and Port number to the line 'Tally Gold License Server='. The Server name and the port number have to be separated by a colon (:), without any spaces.

For example, if the Gold License server name is ABCServer and the Port number is 9090, the information mentioned above would look like this in the ini file:

Tally Gold License Server=ABCServer:9090
6. Save the file and Exit.
7. Your Tally.ERP 9 with a silver license is now ready to access data from Tally.Server 9.
