UAE e-Invoicing – FAQ

This page list the frequently asked question on UAE e-Invoicing.

Register for e-Invoicing

Yes, your Tally.NET ID and the e-mail address registered with EmaraTax can be different. However, during e-Invoicing registration, you must use the e-mail ID registered with EmaraTax and enabled for e-Invoicing.

Yes, you must complete the e-Invoicing registration separately for each TIN that is applicable for e-Invoicing.

Verify that you have entered the correct EmaraTax e-mail address while registering for e-Invoicing. If you still do not receive the OTP, press Alt+H (Resend OTP) on the OTP screen to generate and receive a new OTP.

If you want to use a different EmaraTax account, first reset the existing e-Invoicing registration details and then complete the e-Invoicing registration again.

  1. Press Alt+Z (Exchange) > All VAT Options > Reset e-Invoicing Registration Details and reset the existing registration details.
  2. After resetting, press Alt+Z (Exchange) > All VAT Options > e-Invoice Login & Logout and complete the e-Invoicing registration using the new EmaraTax account.

Yes, currently you can use an Indian TallyPrime license for UAE e-Invoicing Registration.
However, very soon, UAE e-Invoicing Registration will be supported only with an International TallyPrime license.
To ensure uninterrupted access to UAE e-Invoicing Registration, upgrade to an International TallyPrime license at the earliest.

Reset Onboarding

  • The EmaraTax e-mail ID and PEPPOL ID fields become blank.
  • The current e-Invoicing registration is revoked.
  • You must complete the e-Invoicing registration again before exchanging new e-invoices.

No, resetting removes only the e-Invoicing registration details from the company data. Your existing vouchers and transactions remain unchanged.

Login/Logout

No, currently, e-Invoicing is not supported through remote access in TallyPrime.

Yes, you can create a Tally.NET ID and obtain the required permissions from the company administrator to access e-Invoicing services.

Ensure that:

  1. e-Invoicing and VAT are enabled in F11 (Company features).
  2. You have the required user permissions for VAT Returns & Annexures.
  3. Your Tally.NET ID and TSS are active.

Company & Masters

e-Invoicing in UAE begins from 1 July 2026, so this date is prefilled as the default e-Invoice Applicable from date in TallyPrime. You can select any date from 1 July 2026 onwards to configure and explore the e-Invoicing services.

Unit Quantity Code (UQC) is a standard code that maps your Unit of Measurement to an internationally recognised unit defined by PEPPOL. This mapping is required for successful e-Invoice exchange.

TallyPrime has introduced additional fields such as CityTIN, PEPPOL details, Digital Location and Digital Identity details, and Free Zone Number to support UAE e-Invoicing requirements. These fields are available once you enable e-Invoicing for the Company.

Transactions created on or after the effective date automatically use the updated TRN and Registration Type maintained in the party ledger history.

Yes, the existing party ledger data is retained after migration. However, history records for the newly introduced e-Invoicing fields are not created automatically. History tracking begins when you first alter the ledger and save the changes with an effective date.

When Enable multiple addresses is set to Yes in F11 (Company Features), you can capture e-Invoicing details separately for each address.

Transactions

The Status & Rejection Details button is currently inactive/greyed out because invoice upload to the UAE e-Invoicing portal is not yet supported from TallyPrime.
Since invoices cannot be uploaded at this stage, there is no status or rejection information available to retrieve from the portal. As a result, the Alt+S (Status & Rejection Details) option remains disabled. However, you can continue recording and managing e-Invoice transactions in TallyPrime.

The e-Invoice Details section displays information such as the UUIDDate of Exchange, and Time of Exchange after an invoice is successfully exchanged with the UAE e-Invoicing system. Currently, invoice upload and exchange with the UAE e-Invoicing portal are not supported from TallyPrime. As a result, these details are not generated and the fields remain blank.
You can continue recording and managing VAT transactions with e-Invoice details in TallyPrime. The e-Invoice Details section will be populated once invoice exchange is supported.

e-Invoicing in UAE requires a reason whenever a discount, charge, or excise amount affects the invoice value.
To comply with this requirement, TallyPrime allows you to define the Allowance Reason for discount ledgers and Reason for additional charges for charge and excise ledgers. These reasons are included in the e-Invoice exchanged with the e-Invoicing system.
If a valid reason is not specified and the ledger is used in a transaction, the invoice may appear in the Uncertain Transaction section of the e-Invoice report. Such transactions will not be exchanged until the required information is provided.

You can record the following vouchers with e-Invoice Details:

  • Sales
  • Credit Notes
  • Debit Notes
  • PoS Invoices
  • Journal vouchers used for B2B sales transactions
  • Payment vouchers used for B2B sales transactions
  • Receipt vouchers used for B2B sales transactions

e-Invoice Report

This can happen when:

  • No e-Invoice-eligible vouchers exist for the selected period.
  • The e-Invoice Applicable Date falls outside the selected period.
  • e-Invoicing is not enabled for the company.

This can happen if e-Invoicing was enabled after the vouchers were created or if the e-Invoice applicable date was changed later.
When e-Invoicing is enabled, TallyPrime automatically updates only the recent vouchers (up to the last 14 days). Older vouchers may not be updated automatically and therefore may not appear in the e-Invoice report.
To include such vouchers in the report, open and re-save the affected vouchers. The vouchers will now be considered for e-Invoicing and appear in the e-Invoice report, if applicable.

VAT Rate Setup

Open the stock item and press Alt+W to view the history of tax-related changes, including the Applicable dateTaxabilityTax rate, and Reason for Exempt.

The Reason for Exempt field is available only when the stock item’s Taxability is set to Exempt. If the item is TaxableNot Vatable, or Zero Rated, the field is not displayed.
