Tally e-Billing Nepal Edition

Businesses in Nepal must comply with the Inland Revenue Department (IRD) regulations by issuing IRD-compliant invoices, maintaining business records, and, where applicable, reporting sales transactions through the Central Billing Monitoring System (CBMS). VAT registration is mandatory for businesses with an annual turnover exceeding NPR 5 million for goods or NPR 2 million for mixed businesses. In addition, businesses with an annual turnover exceeding NPR 10 crore, or restaurant businesses with an annual turnover exceeding NPR 5 crore, must synchronise sales invoices and sales returns with the CBMS portal.

Tally e-Billing Nepal Edition is a web-based business management application that enables businesses to manage sales, purchases, sales returns, purchase returns, and reports in compliance with IRD requirements from a single application. It supports the generation of IRD-compliant invoices and enables eligible businesses to synchronise sales invoices and sales returns with the CBMS portal.

With Tally e-Billing, you can create and manage accounting and inventory masters, record business transactions using configurable voucher types, monitor CBMS synchronisation, access operational and statutory reports, manage user access through security controls, and back up business data when required. The application also provides audit and inventory reports to help monitor business operations and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.

Get Started with Tally e-Billing

You can get Tally e-Billing from your Tally Partner. With a valid Tally.NET ID, you can sign in to the application and access your business data.

If you are a new user, you can create a company in the Tally e-Billing web application, while existing users can select a company from the List of Companies and continue working.

If your Tally.NET ID is associated with multiple Tally licenses, select the appropriate Serial Number to access the companies linked to the selected license.

Before recording transactions, configure the company details, invoice preferences, CBMS integration, and other operational settings.

Set Up Users and Access Control

After creating a company or selecting an existing company from the List of Companies, you can create users with different security levels based on their roles and responsibilities.

Tally e-Billing comes with four default security levels. You can also create custom security profiles and modify user permissions whenever required.

Create Accounting & Inventory Masters

Before recording business transactions, create the accounting and inventory masters required for your business.

Accounting masters include Customer and Supplier accounts, Sales and Purchase accounts, Tax accounts, and Income and Expense accounts.

If your business deals in goods, you can create inventory masters, such as units, stock groups and stock items, to manage your inventory.

If you transact in foreign currencies, create the required currencies and set the corresponding exchange rates.

Tally e-Billing provides six default voucher types—Sales, POS, Purchase, Sales Return, Purchase Return, and Journal. You can configure each voucher type by setting the voucher numbering method, predefined ledgers, display and print settings, and so on.

Instead of creating masters individually, you can import them in bulk. Download the sample template in CSV, Excel or XML format, update it with the required details, and import the masters into Tally e-Billing.

Record Business Transactions

Now that you have created the required masters, you can create vouchers for the purchase and sale of goods and services, as well as purchase returns and sales returns.

As per the IRD guidelines, you cannot alter sales and purchase transactions. To cancel an existing sales or purchase transaction or record the return of goods, record a sales return or purchase return voucher.

After you cancel the original transaction, you can record a new transaction with the correct details.

If you run a retail business where customers purchase items and make immediate payments, you can use the POS voucher to record such transactions.

Monitor CBMS Synchronisation

Once sales invoices and sales returns are recorded, synchronise them with the CBMS portal in real time to comply with the IRD requirements.

You can monitor the synchronisation status, identify pending or failed transactions, and retry failed synchronisations to ensure that all transactions are successfully reported to the IRD.

Synchronise Data to TallyPrime

After creating the required masters, recording transactions, and synchronising sales invoices and sales returns with CBMS, you can configure TallyPrime to synchronise masters and vouchers from Tally e-Billing.

You can also monitor the synchronisation status and verify the imported data in TallyPrime.

Access Reports

Tally e-Billing provides operational, statutory, audit, inventory, and IRD reports to help monitor business operations and meet IRD requirements.

Operational reports include the Sales Register, Sales Return Register, Purchase Register, Purchase Return Register, and the Sales Materialised Report, which consolidates sales and sales return transactions in a single report.

The Audit Trail and Audit Log reports help review recorded transactions and user activities, while the Stock Register and Day Book provide insights into inventory movement and day-to-day business transactions.

IRD Officers signing in with the assigned credentials can access the IRD Auditor Database Viewer to run SQL queries and audit the recorded masters and transactions.

Backup Your Data

You can back up your masters and transactions whenever required, view backup history, monitor backup status, and download backup files within 7 days of their creation for future reference.
