Sales Process in Tally e-Billing

Sales in Tally e-Billing lets you record the sale of goods and services while capturing the customer, item or service, taxation, payment, and other details required for the transaction. You can record sales of goods using Item Invoice mode or sales of services using Account Invoice mode. You can also apply discounts and additional charges to sales transactions. Additionally, you can record sales involving excise, exports, and zero-rated or exempt supplies.

For frequent over-the-counter sales, you can record POS transactions and accept payments through one or more payment modes while capturing the required buyer details. POS transactions also support discounts and additional charges, making them suitable for sales where the transaction and payment are completed at the point of sale.

For sales below NPR 5,000, you can record abbreviated sales by enabling Abbreviated Sales in Company Configuration. Abbreviated invoices are useful for businesses that handle a high volume of small, over-the-counter sales, such as retail stores, restaurants, pharmacies, and petrol pumps, as they simplify invoice entry by reducing the buyer details required for each transaction. In such invoices, VAT is calculated on an inclusive basis. If a customer requires a full tax invoice, you can issue one instead.

When goods are returned or a recorded sales transaction needs to be reversed, you can record a Sales Return against the original sales invoice. Since recorded sales vouchers cannot be altered, a Sales Return can also be used when you need to correct a transaction due to incorrect details, cancellation, or other transaction-related reasons. You can then create a new sales voucher with the correct details.

Sales and Sales Return vouchers are automatically synchronised with CBMS as they are recorded.
