Multi-Site Licenses
When you purchase a single Silver or Gold license, you will have a single account. However, if your business needs to manage separate sets of users under different licenses, you will need to purchase additional licenses. In such cases, you can use multi-site licensing to manage each license with a unique site under a common account. Read More...
Single Site License
If you have a single license of TallyPrime, TallyPrime Developer, or TallyPrime Server, then it is referred to as a single site license.
Tally creates an account using the e-mail ID provided during license activation. You can use this account for all future communication and licensing activities, such as configuring, reactivating, surrendering, and updating the license. The license is valid for a lifetime. However, to receive the latest product updates, you have to renew TSS once a year.
Multi-Site License
Once you purchase TallyPrime, you need to activate your license to enjoy the full benefits of this new and improved product. If you have more than one licenses installed and activated under your Tally.NET account, then it will be referred to as multi-site licensing.
In multi-site licensing, multiple licenses of TallyPrime, TallyPrime Developer, or TallyPrime Server linked to a single account ID are activated on different computers or locations. For the sake of convenience, you can provide a unique identification for each site, which will be termed as a Site ID. You can identify a multi-site account using a unique Account ID.
Let us assume that your business has branch offices in many locations, and single and multi-user licenses are activated across these locations. Then you can create a multi-site account and manage all the licenses from one place. You can add multiple licenses of TallyPrime, TallyPrime Developer, or TallyPrime Server, which are activated in different locations.
The following is a sample representation of how you can use TallyPrime licenses in single and multi-site scenarios.
Single Site | Multi-Site
License 1 (Silver or Gold) | License 1 (Silver/Gold) | License 2 (Silver/Gold) | License 3 (Silver/Gold)
Single Account > License Admin | Account 1 > License Admin 1 | Account 2 > License Admin 2 | Account 3 > License Admin 3
User 1: Silver – 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM Gold – Can use anytime |
User 2: Silver – 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM Gold – Can use anytime |
Each License account is managed by an account or site administrator. Each License account works like a single independent site enabling multiple users (similar to the case of a single site) to use TallyPrime license, as per the business needs. |

Points to Remember for a Seamless Licensing Experience
- Run TallyPrime in Administrator mode to avoid additional confirmation messages while activating the license.
- Ensure Tally Gateway Server is in Running status. During reactivation, the license is automatically surrendered from the other system, in case you have not surrendered yet.
- Ensure you have your Tally.NET ID (e-mail and password) handy for all licensing activities. Ensure access to the e-mail account to view all licensing communication. Access to the account is also important for resetting Tally.NET password.
- You must have full access to the TallyPrime installation folder for activation, reactivation, and other licensing activities.
- Keep the server computer (where the license is activated) on all the time. This will ensure access to the license in other computers configured to the same license. You must connect the server to the internet at least once in 30 days.
- Ensure to add the required IP Addresses/URL, EXE, and Ports to the Firewalls Exceptions list for TallyPrime for a seamless licensing experience.
- If you have purchased multiple licenses, say TallyPrime, TallyPrime Developer and TallyPrime Server, you can have unique sites for each of these under a common license account.
