Questions and Answers

  1. I received the same stock item in two batches from a supplier, with different expiry dates, quantities, and purchase rates. Can I record both batches in a single purchase voucher while retaining their individual details?
Yes, you can record both batches in a single purchase voucher by allocating the stock item to multiple batches in the Stock Item Allocations screen. For each batch, enter the relevant manufacturing and expiry dates, quantity, and rate. TallyPrime calculates the amount for each batch based on its quantity and rate.

  2. I’m recording a purchase for a stock item and select an existing batch. TallyPrime displays the manufacturing and expiry dates already associated with that batch, but the dates on the seller’s latest invoice are different. Do I have to create a new batch just because the dates differ?
No, when you select a batch, TallyPrime considers the manufacturing and expiry dates associated with that batch by default. However, you can alter these dates in the Stock Item Allocations screen while recording the purchase. Therefore, you don’t necessarily need to create a new batch merely because you need to change the dates for the transaction.
