e-Invoice Sandbox – FAQ

Get answers to all the frequently asked questions or FAQs regarding the e-Invoicing activities through the e-Invoice Sandbox system. This page covers answers to FAQs and possible solutions to the problems you may have faced during e-Invoice Sandbox registration on the Sandbox system or during e-Invoice trial through the e-Invoice Sandbox access in TallyPrime.

Sandbox is an e-Invoice trial system through which you can get a firsthand experience of e-Invoicing activities before you go on to perform those activities on the live IRP.

No. Sandbox and live e-Invoice credentials are two different sets of credentials. Sandbox credentials are used for e-Invoice trial through the e-Invoice Sandbox system. On the other hand, live e-Invoice credentials that you must have generated on the Invoice Registration Portal (IRP) are used for e-Invoicing through on the live IRP.

No. You can experience e-Invoice trial through Sandbox by using only Sandbox credentials.

It is not recommended to use the live Company data for generating trial e-Invoices through the e-Invoice Sandbox system. We suggest you create dummy data that you can use for e-Invoicing activities through the e-Invoice Sandbox system.

It is recommended to use either dummy data or a copy of your live data to perform e-Invoice trial through the e-Invoice Sandbox system. However, if e-Invoice trial is performed on the live data, then you will need to cancel the e-Invoices generated through the e-Invoice Sandbox system in order to avoid any conflicts during e-Invoice generation on the live IRP.

Client ID that you need to enter during Sandbox registration with Tally as a GSP is as follows:

You can click Forgot Credentials? on the e-Invoice API Testing System login page to reset your password.

The error occurs when the e-Invoice Sandbox registration is already done for the GSTIN using Tally (India) Private Ltd as the GSP on the e-Invoice Sandbox system. You need to confirm with people in your organisation if the e-Invoice Sandbox credentials are already generated using the GSTIN.

You may get the Invalid Mobile No or Email ID error while registration as shown below.

In such a case, ensure that you have registered the entered mobile number and email ID on the GST portal. If you have not registered the mobile number email ID, then you need to update the same on the portal.
If you have already updated the mobile number and email ID on the GST portal, then you need to raise a ticket on the portal by selecting the fields as shown in the image below.

No. e-Invoice Sandbox is only meant for e-Invoice trial on a testing environment. Any e-Invoicing activity on the e-Invoice Sandbox system will not get updated on the live IRP.

No. e-Invoice Sandbox is only for e-Invoice trial on a testing environment. Any e-Invoicing activity on the Sandbox system will be neither updated nor published on the live GST portal.

No. The e-Invoice Sandbox system does not facilitate the uploading of JSON files for e-Invoice generation. You can only generate trial e-Invoices from TallyPrime by enabling e-Invoice Sandbox access at the company level.

Scenario: While carrying out any activity such as Upload or Export through e-Invoice Sandbox system, I get an error.

Possible Solution:
Check your internet connectivity.

Press F1 (Help) > About > and select Status of Online Access services.

If you are unable to access the status page, then you can check your Internet connection by restarting the router.

Step 1: Check Proxy Configuration

You need to check if the proxy configuration is enabled.

  1. Press F1 (Help) > Settings > Connectivity > Show More > Proxy Server configuration.

  2. Set Use Proxy Server to No for both For Connection to Online Access Services and For Connection to Tally Gateway Server.

  3. Press Ctrl+A to save to save the setting.

Step 2: Check Antivirus/ Firewall settings

You need to add TallyPrime Program Files to Exception List of Windows Firewall.

The host name should be whitelisted in order to use e-Invoice trial through the e-Invoice Sandbox system.

The Sandbox environment provided by NIC is for demonstration or practice purpose and is not near to real/live systems. Although valid GSTINs are not expected to be rejected in Sandbox, the database of GSTINs on Sandbox is not real time and scenarios of rejection are likely.
