Recommended Hardware Configuration

To ensure smooth performance and reliable multi-user access, it’s important to set up your server and client systems with the right hardware configuration for TallyPrime Server. The following recommendations will help you choose the appropriate processor, RAM, storage, and operating system based on your usage, number of users, and deployment setup.

Server System

Particulars Recommended Configuration
Processor

2 GHz 64-bit (x64) architecture processor or above;

Core i3, i5 equivalent, or above

RAM

While choosing the RAM, consider the number of users, along with the data size.

If TP & TPS are running on the same machine (in case of RDP access):

  • Minimum RAM (approx.) required:
    Check the average RAM usage per user and multiply it with the average instances per user.
    For example, if the RAM per user is 500 MB and there are 20 users with 2 instances each, then you need:
    500 x 40 = ~20GB RAM, minimum.

If TP & TPS are running on different machines:

  • Server RAM utilization will be less in this case since, as Tally uses RAM from each user machine.
Hard Disk

Have sufficient storage based on the number of users accessing the server

The type of storage can be SSD/SSD NVMe

Keep storage path for TPS data and storage path for schedule backup separate to avoid “disk space full” issues.

Operating System MS Windows Server 2012 or above (64 bit)

Client System

Particulars Recommended Configuration
Processor

1.8 GHz 64-bit (x64) architecture processor or above;

Core i3, i5 equivalent, or above

RAM 8 GB or more for smoother operations
Hard Disk Storage type of SSD/SSD NVMe for better performance
Operating System

Microsoft Windows 7 or above (64 bit)

Other MS Office software

64-bit editions of MS Office software such as Excel, Word, and so on

Connectivity Continuous connection to the internet
