Once you submit the details of your business on the website, a representative from the Payment Gateway will reach out to you and explain the process and the available options. Once the details are finalised, the Payment Gateway will initiate the KYC process and share the Merchant ID (MID) with you in the due course of time. Refer to the One-Time, Hassle-free Setup section of the Payment Request topic to know more.

Note: Onboarding of new merchants has been temporarily paused by RBI. Nevertheless, you can continue to submit your details with the respective Payment Gateways, so that your account can be activated once the onboarding is resumed. However, this won’t affect the existing merchants registered with Payment Gateways. If you are already registered, then you can continue using the services offered by the Payment Gateway.

The registration time and process might vary for each Payment Gateway. However, once you receive your Merchant ID, you can immediately set up your Merchant Profile in TallyPrime and proceed to generate payment links/QR codes.

For UPI-based payments, there is a daily limit of 1 lakh rupees. On the other hand, there are no such limits for Payment Gateway-based payments.
Therefore, based on your convenience and transactional needs, you can choose either Payment Gateway or UPI to generate payment links/QR codes.

To generate payment link/QR code using Payment Gateway, you need the Merchant ID and mobile number/e-mail address, as registered with the respective Payment Gateway.
