Inventory Management with Godowns in TallyPrime
In your business, you may store stock items at different locations such as shops, warehouses, bins, racks, or cabinets. You may also store stock items from different batches at different locations.
With godowns in TallyPrime, you can organise stock by location, track stock movement between locations, and view godown-wise stock details.
Managing Godowns in TallyPrime
TallyPrime provides you with the flexibility to create godowns that are handled independently or under a main location. You can create a single godown or create multiple godowns from a single screen.
Stock Item Allocation to Godown
In TallyPrime, you can allocate stock items to godowns either from the master or during voucher creation, as needed.
Disabling Stock Item Storage in Godown
You might have created a parent godown or location for a specific zone, under which you created actual godowns. In this case, you don’t actually store materials in the parent godown, as the stock items are stored in the godowns created under that location. In such a scenario, you can disable the storage of materials for the godown/location.
Deletion of Godown
If you no longer use a godown, you can delete it.
Stock Transfer between Godowns
You can record stock transfers between godowns using Stock Journals. If you are involved in manufacturing or job work, you can use a Stock Journal to record the transfer of raw materials and finished goods from one godown to another.
Recording stock transfers using a Stock Journal, including the source and destination godown details, helps you to:
- Track stock availability at each godown.
- View godown-wise stock reports.
- Enable accurate order fulfilment from the correct location.
You can check the Godown Summary to know the quantity of stock items in each godown. This helps you understand whether you have enough stock to fulfil an order.
You can also print the source and destination godown addresses on the invoices.
Managing Stock with Third Party
In your business, you can create godowns to track your stock held by third parties. You can use these godowns to record stock transfers to third parties and track stock consumed from third-party godowns.
This particularly applies to scenarios such as:
- Sending raw materials to a job worker.
- Sending finished goods to a consignment agent.
- Sending equipment for repair.
- Dispatching products for exhibitions or demonstrations.
- Using stock held in a third-party godown.
Receiving stock from third party
You may want to maintain godowns for third-party stock held by you. This helps you receive stock from a third party and consume or sell the stock received from them.
This particularly applies to scenarios such as:
- Receiving processed goods back from a job worker.
- Receiving returned goods from customers.
- Receiving goods on approval from suppliers.
- Receiving repaired equipment.
- Consuming stock received from a third party for sales or another purpose.
Godown Reports
The Godown Summary in TallyPrime helps you:
- Track the availability of stock items across godowns.
- Track stock movement to and from each godown.
- View the opening and closing balances of your stock items in each godown.
- Analyse stock consumption and view the overall stock position across godowns.
From the Godown Summary, you can drill down to view the Godown Monthly Summary and Godown Vouchers.
You can also compare stock quantities and rates across two or more godowns.
