Inventory in TallyPrime for Manufacturing
In your business, when you manufacture goods, you may want to track:
- The consumption of raw materials.
- The cost of manufacturing finished products.
- The cost allocation of by-products, co-products, and scrap.
You may also want to view the stock available in each godown at different stages of the manufacturing process.
In TallyPrime, you can manage manufacturing-related inventory using Stock Journal, Bills of Materials, and Manufacturing Journal.
Stock Journal for Manufacturing in TallyPrime
When you manufacture a specific product, raw materials are consumed and transferred from one godown to another. In TallyPrime, you can:
- Record the consumption of raw materials during manufacturing.
You can account for the raw materials consumed at any stage of the manufacturing process. - View the Godown Summary to check stock quantities in different godowns, based on the stock movements recorded during manufacturing.
Bills of Materials for Stock Items
When a product requires a defined set of components for manufacturing, you can create a Bill of Materials (BoM) for its stock item. A Bill of Materials helps you record your Manufacturing Journal quickly, as you do not have to enter the components repeatedly.
In TallyPrime, you can:
- Create a Bill of Materials for a Stock Item.
- Copy components of an existing BoM to create a new BoM.
This is particularly useful when the new BoM shares components with an existing BoM. You can copy components from the existing BoM and then make changes to the new BoM, as applicable.
Manufacturing Journal
In TallyPrime, you can use Manufacturing Journal to record the components consumed and the co-products, by-products, and scrap produced during manufacturing.
