Backup failed, as your Backup Data Path <path> does not have the required space.

This error appears when there is insufficient free storage at the location used for taking the backup:

Cause 1: The backup is to a local drive and the selected Backup Data Path does not have enough free space.

Cause 2: The TallyPrime installation folder does not have sufficient free space. If the backup is to TallyDrive, TallyPrime first creates a temporary local backup in the TallyPrime installation folder before uploading it.

Resolution:

Check the size of the company you are backing up, and ensure the backup data path has at least that much free storage.

  1. Check company data size.
    1. Find the folder where your company data is stored.
    2. Right-click the folder, select Properties, then go to the General tab. Note the company size under Size.
  2. Ensure that the same amount of storage space is available in your local storage or TallyDrive storage, depending on the backup data path.
