Creating Ledgers for Excise

Create the Excise ledger if you are not using Excise Module of Tally.ERP 9

To create a Ledger for Excise:

Go to Gateway of Tally > Accounts Info > Ledgers > Create

1. Enter the Name of the ledger.

2. Select the Group Duties & Taxes from the List of Groups.

3. Select the Type of Duty/Tax from Types of Duty/Tax to Excise.

4. Select Excise Duty in Duty Head field.

5. Set Inventory Values are affected to No.

6. Set the Percentage of Calculation to 14%.

7. Select the appropriate Method of Calculation from the list of Type of Duty.

8. In Rounding Method field select as Not Applicable

9. Press Enter to accept and save.

Similarly, you can create ledger for Education Cess – Excise and Secondary Education Cess, by selecting Duty Head as Cess on Duty and the Method of Calculation as Additional Tax.

• Education Cess - Excise.

• Secondary Education Cess.
