A Tally product license cannot be shared across the subnet.
To have more than 255 workstations in a single network, you need to alter the subnet mask. If the mask is provided as 255.255.255.0, it can allow 255 workstations only.
If the subnet mask is altered as per your requirement, more workstations can come under a single network. Refer to the following table:
Mask
No. of computers
255.255.255.0
255
255.255.254.0
510
255.255.253.0
765
255.255.252.0
1020
For example, if you want to use any Tally products on more than 255 machines, you can set the subnet mask as 255.255.254.0, this will allow you to use a maximum of 510 computers. Similarly, if you want to use any Tally products on more than 510 computers, you can set the subnet mask as per the table given above.
There are two options provided in the Tally.ERP 9 Client machine when data is accessed through Tally.Server,
●
Thin Client Access (Restrict Memory Usage)
●
Use Additional Memory for Higher Speed Reporting
To set these configurations
1.
Go to
Gateway of Tally
>
Company Info.
>
F12: Configurations
>
Advanced Configuration
. The options appear under Tally.Server Configurations as shown.
By default, both the options are set to No and normally the user would not require changing them.
2.
Perform one of the following:
●
Enable
Thin Client Access (Restrict Memory Usage)
. This is required when Tally.ERP 9 clients and the data reside on a high power server and is accessed through thin clients or RDP. This will indicate to the Tally.ERP 9 client that the data and other clients are also running on the same machine, thereby reducing usage of own memory and thus providing optimum performance as there is no network traffic involved. This will also ensure that other clients do not overload the server memory by each of them trying to cache data for performance.
Note:
If the first option Thin Client Access (Restrict Memory Usage) is enabled, then the second option Use Additional Memory for Higher Speed Reporting becomes irrelevant.
●
Enable
Use Additional Memory for Higher Speed Reporting:
This is required if the volume of data is very high and there is un-utilised memory on the individual Tally.ERP 9 client machine(s). This will indicate to the Tally.ERP 9 client(s) to consume more local memory (instead of memory on the server) to cache the data, hence providing higher performance.
This error occurs while updating Tally.ERP 9 to latest release from Product & Features.
Solution
●

●
