The Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) feature works seamlessly when the Operating System, Tally.ERP 9, and MS Excel are all 64-bit.
When there is a mismatch in the bitness between Tally.ERP 9 and MS Excel, Tally.ERP 9 (which acts as the ODBC server) will not be able to communicate with MS Excel, causing the data export to fail.
To enable data export, install a driver with compatible bitness. The table below shows the driver requirement for various OS versions:
Tally.ERP 9 Bitness |
Operating System 64-Bit |
|
|
MS Office 32-Bit |
MS Office 64-Bit |
32-Bit |
Works seamlessly without driver installation. |
Driver to be installed is tallywin64.dat To install, select the tool regodbc64.exe present in Tally application folder and r un as Admin . |
64-Bit |
Driver to be installed is tallywin32.dat To install, select the tool regodbc32.exe present in the Tally application folder and run as Admin. |

Once the driver is installed, you can continue exporting data into MS Excel.
