Tally Gateway Server (TGS) - Introduction and Installation

Tally Gateway Server (TGS) is a windows service that is installed and started after activating your license. You can access the license via LAN in your computer by configuring your computer to point to the TGS where the license is active.

Tally Gateway Server (TGS) is a new component introduced from Release 5 which is a replacement of Tally license Server.

Tally Gateway Server (TGS) is used to share license across LAN.

Execution will happen only after activating/ reactivating of Release 5

Will allow usage of same license across multiple systems in the LAN

In a multi-user environment, the Tally Gateway Server service will be active in the system where the license is active. To access the license in other computers in the same LAN, you need to configure your computer to point to the Tally Gateway Server.

To start or stop the Tally Gateway Server service

1. Go to Start in the computer where the license is activated.

2. Type Run .

3. Type services.msc in the Run screen.

4. Search for Tally Gateway Server service.

5. Right-click on the service. You can Start , Stop , Pause , Resume , and Restart the service, as required.
