Migrating TDS Data

Tally.ERP 9 supports enhanced capabilities in the vouchers for TDS related transactions compared to vouchers used in Tally 9. You can migrate TDS data from Tally 9 to Tally.ERP 9 based on the validity of all transactions in supplier ledgers.

Before migrating the data to Tally.ERP 9 TDS, ensure that TDS is deducted for all pending bills of all parties (even if they have not crossed the exemption limit). You can ignore the exemption limit by configuring the same at the master level.

Migrating TDS data from Tally 9 to Tally.ERP 9

To migrate TDS data

1.    Load the company recorded in Tally.9.

2.    Click Yes to rewrite version in the confirmation message Rewrite Version?.

3.    Press Enter to accept.

4.    Press Enter or Y to take a data backup in the confirmation message Backup before rewriting?. If backup before rewrite is selected, the backup companies on the disk is displayed.

After backup, the data is rewritten. The data rewrite occurs in three phases. The statutory masters is then imported. If errors occur during any of the steps, a warning message is displayed. If the TDS migration is not completed, a warning message is displayed with information to correct the failed vouchers.

Why is TDS data migration required?

TDS data migration is required because:

     In Tally 9, options like booking of expenses and deduction of TDS in the same voucher, booking multiple expenses, TDS Deduction for multiple expenses were not available.

     The data structure in Tally 9 and Tally.ERP 9 are different because of the variation in recording transactions. To change the data structure of the transactions entered in Tally 9 to Tally.ERP 9 data structure, migration is required.

How is TDS data migrated?

In Tally.ERP 9, TDS data is migrated based on the supplier ledger. Before the actual migration, the application checks for the validity of all transactions for a supplier, and if any error is found, the supplier or transaction is skipped. This depends on the type of data error.

How to migrate failed vouchers?

To migrate failed vouchers

1.    Go to Gateway of Tally > Display > Statutory Reports > TDS Reports > Exception Reports > Migrate Tool > Track Migrate Vouchers. Track Migrate Vouchers report is displayed with party-wise total, migrated and un-migrated vouchers.

2.    Select the party to check the reasons for non-migration, and correct the vouchers from Track Migrate Vouchers report screen.

How to migrate TDS data manually?

To migrate the TDS data manually

1.    Open the company data in the latest release.

2.    Press Ctrl+Alt+M. The Migrate Data screen appears.

3.    Select TDS and select End of List.

4.    Press Enter to save.

5.    Click Yes to take a Backup before migrating?.

o     Enter the Destination path to which you want to back-up the data.

o     Press Enter to save. The data backup gets saved as TBK900.001 in the Destination path.

Note: You can click No in the Backup before migrating? message screen, to migrate the data without taking a backup. However, it is recommended to take a backup before migrating data to avoid loss of data.
