Troubleshoot Performance Issues While Loading Company and Voucher Entry

You can check the server and client systems to troubleshoot the performance issues.

1. Check the system configuration i.e. Operating system, RAM and processor. Recommended RAM is 4GB with I3 and above processor in case of LOCAL LAN.

2. Check the size of company.900, cmpsve.900 and sumtran.900, In case company.900 is in MB, take a backup, this solution to be followed in case if customer is using customization and in case customization related information are stored in Company Masters i.e. company.900

If sumtran.900 size is in MB, take a backup and rename sumtran.900. For e.g. sumtran.9001 and perform zero rewrite.

3. Check the number of masters and transactions, Data size affects the memory consumption adversely when a company is being loaded. The company features and the volume of data entered determines the data size.

For example, in a data, if the stock items are 20,000 and the stock categories 5,000, while loading, the consumption memory increases because the balance for all the stock items is checked category wise.

4. Costing method selected in the stock item, in case it is selected as FIFO it will be slower while loading the company, the same is noted for enhancement. The company loading issue in case if of Stock Valuation Method is FIFO. Following are the scenarios in which Company loading takes time:

In case if the data contains a greater number of batches that will impact the company loading performance.

In case if there is only Inwards and there is no Outwards in this scenario also it creates Performance challenge

If the Inwards is containing only Value in this scenario company loading takes time.

Note: With the confirmation from the customer the costing method can be changed to Avg. cost in master alteration screen and if they want the report in FIFO, same can be viewed in report level by pressing Alt+C and select valuation as FIFO.

5. If they are using any TDL, disable the TDL and check. In case it is an accounting TDL, login to Control centre > License management > Press F6 and Select General Configuration and TDL Configuration and select Not applicable and update the license so that in case they are using any account TDL, same will be disabled.

6. Ensure that Tally.exe is given the permission as full control. Please follow the procedure as given below.

Right click data folder and Tally.exe > Properties > Security .

7. Click on Advanced > Select Everyone and set the permission as Full control as shown below:

8. In case the antivirus is not whitelisted, please add Tally.exe, tallygatewayserver.exe and extn i.e. *.900 and *.tsf in the exclusion of the antivirus.

9. Delete the unused masters from the list of accounts.

If the performance is slow while passing the voucher entry, in addition to the above checklist, follow the below checklist as well.

1. Number of line items i.e. stock items or ledger selected in the single voucher.

2. Number of users accessing the report and passing the voucher entry. For example, there are 10 users and 3 users are accessing the report and remaining 7 users are passing the vouchers.

3. Number of RDP users, if any accessing Tally data.

Performance in Client System

1. Check the system configuration i.e. Operating system, RAM and Processor. Recommended RAM is 4GB and Processor is I3 and above and ensure that RAM is equivalent in all the client system.

2. Check the ping speed from client to server i.e. ping servername/IPaddress -t for example, ping 192.168.30.142 -t and ensure that ping speed is within 3ms and there is a uniformity in ping speed.

3. Disable the TDL if any.

4. In case the antivirus is not whitelisted, please add Tally.exe, tallygatewayserver.exe and extn i.e. *.900 and *.tsf in the exclusion of the antivirus

5. Ensure that Tally.exe is given the permission as full control. Please follow the procedure in the link.

Right click data folder > Properties > Security .

6. Shift the data to client system, share the same and access from server and check the speed.

If the performance is slow while passing the voucher entry, in addition to the above checklist, follow the below checklist as well.

1. Number of line items i.e. stock items or ledger selected in the single voucher.

2. Number of users accessing the report and passing the voucher entry. For example, there are 10 users and 3 users are accessing the report and remaining 7 users are passing the vouchers.
